HYTORC Earns 7th Spotlight on New Technology Small Business Award at OTC
HYTORC, the oldest and most recognized manufacturer of industrial bolting systems in the world, will receive a 2026 Spotlight on New Technology™ Small Business Award during the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) May 4-7 in Houston, Texas, for its latest innovation, TorcSync.
With this honor, HYTORC earns its seventh Spotlight on New Technology Small Business Award since 2019, continuing its track record of innovation in industrial bolting technology. The company’s previous award-winning technologies include the Connect App, MXT+ hydraulic torque wrench, J-Washer (now the TRUE-LOCK Reaction Washer), LIGHTNING™ Pump Series and LITHIUM SERIES II electric torque tool. Last year, HYTORC won the award for the LITHIUM SERIES RX (LSRX).
The OTC Spotlight on New Technology Awards recognizes groundbreaking technologies based on criteria such as uniqueness, ingenuity, demonstrated success, commercial viability and the potential to significantly impact the offshore energy industry. HYTORC stands alongside other winners that include companies such as Baker Hughes, Bosch Rexroth, and CNPC USA Corporation.
TorcSync represents a major advancement in bolting technology as it is truly unique, a first for battery operated torque tools. Simultaneous bolting for battery tools has never been truly possible until TorcSync. - HYTORC President Eric Junkers.
“TorcSync represents a major advancement in bolting technology as it is truly unique, a first for battery operated torque tools. Simultaneous bolting for battery tools has never been truly possible until TorcSync,” said HYTORC President Eric Junkers. “We are honored to once again be recognized by the Offshore Technology Conference for delivering innovative solutions that improve safety, efficiency and reliability for our customers.”
TorcSync is a patented wireless synchronization technology that enables multiple Bluetooth-enabled LITHIUM SERIES II (LST) torque tools to operate simultaneously while executing identical bolting tasks. By ensuring parallel joint closure, the system helps create stronger, safer bolted connections and reduces the risks associated with uneven tightening.
The technology allows one “Supervisor” tool to wirelessly control and distribute parameters to up to six “Operator” tools, eliminating the need to manually program each device. This centralized control reduces human error, increases efficiency and provides real-time visibility into tool performance and job progress.
Unlike traditional simultaneous bolting systems that rely on hydraulic hoses or pneumatic lines, TorcSync operates completely wirelessly, improving portability and accessibility in complex or constrained environments. The system enables technicians to maintain synchronized operation, significantly reducing setup time and increasing productivity.
By improving joint integrity and reducing the likelihood of leaks or failures, TorcSync also delivers environmental and operational benefits. Properly tightened joints help reduce leaks, minimize fugitive emissions, reduce maintenance-related downtime and lower energy waste associated with repair operations.
“This technology has the potential to transform how bolting is performed across offshore and industrial applications,” Junkers added. “By combining wireless control, battery-powered tools and synchronized operation, TorcSync sets a new standard for safety and efficiency in the field.”
In 2025, HYTORC received the Spotlight on New Technology™ award for the LITHIUM SERIES RX (LSRX).
- The LSRX is a revolutionary battery-powered torque tool tailored for the offshore industry that is unmatched in bolting safety and performance. This explosion-proof tool is engineered for hazardous environments, ensuring safety and reliability where other electric torque tools fail. Its sealed, corrosion-resistant aluminum housing withstands rain, salt air, and harsh offshore conditions, reducing maintenance costs and extending tool life. A locking battery mechanism prevents accidental disconnection and eliminates spark risks and ensures safety in explosive environments. Combined with contactless electronic switching, it sets a new benchmark for operational safety and efficiency.
In 2024, HYTORC received the Spotlight on New Technology™ award for the LIGHTNING™ PUMP Series (both Smart and Standard options):
- The LIGHTNING PUMP is the first battery-powered pump the company has ever offered and the first variable speed battery-powered hydraulic pump on the market. The pump is valuable in industries such as wind (including offshore), mining, and oil and gas, where there are few reliable, consistent power sources available and where access to a generator is not always possible or convenient.
In 2022, the company won Spotlight on New Technology™ awards for its MXT+® Hydraulic Torque Wrench and Connect App software:
- The MXT+ Hydraulic Torque Wrench builds upon the best features of the original MXT Hydraulic Torque Wrench, adding the latest advanced technology, including coaxial reaction drive, auto-release feature, and a new cycle counter.
- The Connect App provides Bluetooth-enabled wireless data exchange between HYTORC Electric Torque Tools and Windows PC or mobile devices. By sending preset bolting parameters to the tool, the app simplifies and speeds up the configuration of bolting operations. It guides users through simple or multi-pass sequential bolting operations to ensure job accuracy, and even records detailed bolting results for complete project documentation.
In 2021, HYTORC won the Spotlight on New Technology™ award for the HYTORC J-Washer.
- The J-Washer elevates the performance and reliability of the HYTORC Reaction Washer by adding a locking feature to minimize loosening and keep bolts tight under dynamic loads. The fastener’s unique ridged band prevents loosening of pre-loaded fasteners while providing all the benefits of the traditional HYTORC Reaction Washer, including safety, speed, and tool longevity.
In 2019, the HYTORC LITHIUM SERIES II Tool won the award.
- The tool introduced ground-breaking TorcSense™ Technology to the industry, an innovative method of direct torque measurement and closed loop control to provide more repeatable bolting performance.
